Residential Battery Storage Business Models in Demand Response Environment
Abolfazl Ghasemi *1 , Mehdi Marzbani , Vahid Baghishani
Abstract:   (51 Views)

With the increasing penetration of distributed generation and renewable energy resources, distribution networks are transitioning from passive to active systems. In active distribution networks, the inherent uncertainty in renewable energy production necessitates energy storage solutions to balance generation and consumption. The integration of energy storage devices enhances demand response capabilities and improves the network's flexibility in the face of generation fluctuations, particularly during severe weather events, thereby bolstering system reliability and resilience. Residential customers represent a significant portion of the loads connected to distribution networks and play a crucial role in adopting distributed generation technologies and participating in demand response programs. For residential customers to effectively leverage battery energy storage systems, a viable business model is essential. This paper explores the business opportunities of battery energy storage within the residential sector, presenting a business model canvas that can serve as a foundation for developing various business models.

Keywords: Flexibility, battery energy storage, business model, business model canvas, demand response, resiliency.
